Anatoly Osmolovsky
Born in 1969 in Moscow. Artist,curator, art theorist, educator, and one of the key figures of post-Sovietconceptual and actionist art. Since the late 1980s he has been the founder and ideologist of Moscow politicalactionism. In the early 1990s he became known for his radical performances and actionsexploring themes of power, language, ideology, and public space. In the 2000s he turned to object-based art and sculpture, while continuing towork actively as a curator and art critic. Since 2011 he has been the founder and rector of the BAZA Institute ofContemporary Art and the BAZA Publishing House. Osmolovsky’s works have been acquired at various auctions, including Phillipsde Pury & Company in London (BRIC) and Sotheby’s.
He lives and works in Berlin.
