Cherenkov’s Farewell

July 1990

Idea: G. Gusarov

On the farewell match of Cherenkov, first time in the history of soviet sport a fan (Grigory Gusarov) ran out to a football field, shaked hands with Cherenkov and ran away.

The police caught up with him and beat him (in a separate room). Gusarov told them that he had been missing the train and in order not to round the field, he had decided to take a shortcut.

TV commentator said that our fans ran out to a field like in the western countires. Those fans, who sat on the stands, took this fact very positive.
